Prior to Covid-19, 11 volunteers and 6 trainees cleaned trash and litter, brush and overgrowth and fixing and painting signs in the area of Oakland Avenue and Owen. Motor City Grounds Crew provided necessary on proper usage and techniques for typical landscape equipment to both residents and some staff members.

Under health and safety orders from the governor, GGW had to abruptly halt the training program and volunteer opportunities; however, our grant funders approved the transition of funding to produce PPE kits for frontline workers and vulnerable populations and the bottling of hand sanitizer.

Currently, Art Park on John R, in partnerships with Rebound Detroit has resumed operations and should be completed end of summer 2020.

DTE donated brick pavers that are being installed, with a gazebo, outdoor seating and an art mural. GGW is looking forward to once again hosting volunteers to continue beautification projects in the North End neighborhood.
